RESURRECTING A FORGOTTEN LEGEND.  An often forgotten legend, the Hawker Typhoon was a powerful, potent ground attack aircraft that redressed the balance in mainland Europe during WWII.

The Hawker Typhoon in all its glory.

Time to honour legends and their legacy

AVI-8 Watches are honoured to release a limited edition timepiece in partnership with the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group, to support the Typhoon’s legacy.

The Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group is a charitable organisation, run entirely by volunteers, and exists to raise the funds required to rebuild Hawker Typhoon MkIb, RB396, as the lasting legacy those brave men and women deserve.

Each timepiece sold will support the work of the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group as they restore Hawker Typhoon RB396, the only surviving combat veteran example of the type known to exist.

Attaching the watch to the wrist is a comfortable, premium genuine leather strap with cross-stitched details inspired by the pilot’s seat in RB396.

The aircraft will symbolise the heritage, educate the public and become a permanent memorial to all the crews, of all nationalities, that made the ultimate sacrifice operating the Typhoon.

There were over 1200 young men and women who flew the Hawker Typhoon during WWII, 56% of them made the ultimate sacrifice. There is no memorial to these brave young men and women, the thousands of ground crew and support staff who kept the machines operating, nor to those who designed, built, tested and delivered the aircraft.

This memorial will not be carved from stone, or cast in bronze, viewed only by those who make the special journey to see it. This memorial will work, live and breathe. It will fly, and it will be seen by many.

The case back features the name “Sheila”, drawn from the nose art on RB396. The name was inscribed by RB396 pilot Frank Johnson to honour his wife Sheila. To honour the heritage of this iconic aircraft, each colourway is named after a pilot who had flown RB396 over the years.

The heritage of an iconic aircraft

Measuring 42mm, the stainless steel case with knurled details on the pushers and crown has been expertly crafted for style and durability. A hardened mineral lens with anti-reflective coating provides a perfect view into the dial. Featuring bold oversized Arabic and baton indexes with Swiss lume, the dial is distinctly legible.

Subdials with instrument-style frames are drawn straight from the cockpit of RB396. Utilising a Japanese chronograph quartz movement, this timekeeping instrument is armed with both reliability and precision. Attaching the watch to the wrist is a comfortable, premium genuine leather strap with cross-stitched details inspired by the pilot’s seat in RB396.

Each timepiece sold will support the work of the Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group as they restore Hawker Typhoon RB396, the only surviving combat veteran example of the type known to exist.

To honour the heritage of this iconic aircraft, each colourway is named after a pilot who had flown RB396 over the years. Every limited edition timepiece purchased will receive a Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group Bronze Package valued at £25.

Each subscription helps the project with the funds required for the rebuild e ort and by joining you become part of something truly unique and important to aviation history.

The Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group is a charitable organisation, run entirely by volunteers, and exists to raise the funds required to rebuild Hawker Typhoon MkIb, RB396, as the lasting legacy those brave men and women deserve. The rebuild of RB396 to airworthy condition cannot be achieved alone. We need financial support; £5million is needed to cover the cost of the rebuild. We need your help. Join those who have already contributed in excess of £1million since the formation of the charity in 2016, and who have enabled the rebuild to commence, with the first section nearing completion. With your help, the rebuild can continue, progress, and be complete.
