CHIARA VANASIA: LIFE, FOOTBALL AND THE COLOURS OF INTER

“I was three years old when I was given a doll wearing an Inter shirt and a Vieri jersey. I’ve been surrounded by black and blue ever since.”

Over the next few weeks, The Atlantic Dispatch and our friends at Off The Pitch Archive will be bringing you some of the best female content creators across the beautiful game to underline the importance of supporting women on and off the field.

This week we sat down with Inter Milan fan, Chiara Vanasia to discuss her love of the club.

THE CITY OF MY FAVOURITE TEAM

Chiara Vanasia doesn’t live in Milan, but she might as well. Her days are shaped by the city—commuting in for work, for matches, for the rhythm of a place that’s always shifting. She was born and raised in a town just outside, where life is quieter, but Milan was always just a train ride away.

“I love it,” she says of the city. “It’s lively, constantly changing, and of course, it’s the city of my favourite team.”

IT WAS INCREDIBLE, UNFORGETTABLE

Chiara’s connection to football started early. Like most kids, she was drawn in through television, video games, and makeshift kickabouts. But her love of Inter Milan? That was there from the start.

“I was three years old when I was given a doll wearing an Inter shirt and a Vieri jersey. I’ve been surrounded by black and blue ever since.”

At six, she stepped inside the San Siro for the first time with her parents. That was it. She was hooked.

Fast-forward to April 22, 2024, and she was standing in Piazza Duomo, soaked in rain, celebrating Inter’s 20th Scudetto, fresh from beating Milan.

“It was incredible, unforgettable,” she says. A moment she had waited her whole life for.

I’M QUITE SUPERSTITIOUS

Ask her to pick a favourite Inter kit, and it’s impossible—she buys one every season. But this year’s is special. “It has something more than the others,” she says, referencing the club’s second star, marking 20 league titles. Style-wise, she leans into streetwear, but the Inter jersey is always central. “It’s the real protagonist of every outfit.”

On the current season, she plays it safe. “I’m quite superstitious,” she says with a laugh, refusing to make predictions on the title race. “The top three are still fighting it out.”

I HOPE ONE DAY WE’LL SEE PARITY

Her career in content creation started with a simple idea—an Instagram page, Le Interiste, that she launched with her sister in 2017. “We just wanted to post photos and videos of two sisters at the stadium.”

The following grew, brands took notice, and in 2024, Betsson Sport came calling. Now, she collaborates with the betting giant, experiencing Inter in ways most fans could only dream of.

“I’ve been to Appiano Gentile to watch training, done yoga in a lounge at San Siro, attended the 2022 season launch with the whole team, and even watched a match from Inter’s headquarters, next to the trophy room.”

But beyond the perks, she sees a bigger shift happening. Women’s football in Italy is still fighting for its place, and Chiara knows how important visibility is. “It’s fundamental,” she says. “In 2025, we can’t ignore that. Women’s football is growing, but in Italy, we’re still behind. I hope one day we’ll see parity.”

As for her own path, she’s not one for rigid plans. “I just hope for a peaceful year,” she says of 2025. And her ultimate dream? She won’t say. “I keep them locked in a box, and I guard the keys. Otherwise, they won’t come true.”

One thing’s for sure—whether it’s Milan or the province, pitchside or in the stands, Chiara’s world will always be black and blue.
