GENOA’S GRIFONE RISES FROM THE 80s FOR THE CLUB’S 2024/25 SECOND KIT

Serie A side travels back four decades to restore one of the city’s most iconic symbols, the ‘Gallinaccio’

Genoa CFC has gone back four decades to restore one of the most iconic symbols of the club and also of the city. Straight from the 80s, the ‘Gallinaccio’ is now present on the Serie A side’s second kit for the 2024/25 season.

The bond between the club and the city can be seen in the campaign for the new kit, with photos on the top of the Stadio Luigi Ferraris showing the inside of the stadium and the city of Genoa, with the jersey taking centre stage.

This emblem, one of the most popular in the club’s history, was used on the uniforms at the beginning of the 1980s and has since been ‘adopted’ by the fans, who use it on helmets, flags, scarves, stickers and murals.

The emblem represents one of the many artistic incarnations of the Grifone, the mythological creature that is a symbol of the club and the city of Genoa.

The jersey is characterised by its elegant design: it is predominantly white, with blue and red details along the shoulders and sides.

The dominant theme is the famous ‘Gallinaccio’. On the back of the collar, the elitist inscription reads “DALL’INIZIO, PER SEMPRE” (‘FROM THE BEGINNING, FOREVER’)
