ACID FC EXPLAIN THE DESIGN BEHIND THEIR REVOLUTIONARY CALEDONIAN BRAVES KITS.

ART, FASHION, FOOTBALL

The School of Art. Mackintosh and music. A stovie of rebellion and tradition, spiked with a deep-fried dose of why the hell not? Forget convention. You want a story in fabric. A challenge. The proverbial traffic cone on a statue.

So, where do you start? Easy. You take something Scottish — tartan. Not the stale, moth-eaten stuff your grandda wears, but something fresh, raw. Something with a pulse.

You riff off the French Tricolore. Why? The Braves came out of Paris, the Edusport Academy. Young, hungry French kids shipped to Glasgow to grind out their future.

You slam the two worlds together until you get a new tartan one that’s pure F-you energy wrapped in a punk ethos because nothing says “new blood” like reworking the old into something unrecognisable.

Vivienne Westwood jamming two fingers into society’s ribs in the late ‘70s, twisting until it hurt. The Sex Pistols.

The whole DIY, spit-in-your-face revolution. And the Braves? They’re punk. Scrappy, upstart Bravehearts clawing at the establishment, ripping rules apart like a cheap t-shirt. So, yeah, it makes sense.

The typography on the kit? Classic fonts turned into a sneer. Grime under the fingernails. Unapologetic.

And then, here’s where the fun begins. You take that tartan and tear it to shreds. Break it apart and shove the pieces into the “Collideascope 3000” — our own patented chaos machine. You twist, smash, blend — thousands of times.

Ideas slamming into each other until they’re almost unrecognisable. And you don’t stop. You add parameters, because, Spin the dials. “More Art Nouveau.” “Dash of Pub Carpet.” Until you’ve got something so different, so warped, it feels almost too much. But it’s perfect. Phoenix on the heart. Rising from the ashes with French red and blue in 3D in its wings. A cross of Saint Andrew threaded in because don’t forget where you’re from.

It’s more superhero crest than a club symbol. The kind of thing seen over a foreboding cityscape, summoning someone to shake up the league. An invitation to burn the house down and build something new. Same DNA, but softer. Dial down the colours, and throw in “rose” and “hope.” Not because you’re getting soft, but because the world needs balance. Something no one’s ever seen on a football pitch before — an alien landing.

Now, it’s ready. To take to the pitch. We watch, waiting. It’s more than a kit; it’s a declaration. It’s a manifesto woven into fabric. And the Caledonian Braves are just getting started.
