“A WIN WOULD MEAN EVERYTHING TO US.”
THE GALAXY OUTLAWZ
As the LA Galaxy prepare for their monumental clash against the New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup Final in Los Angeles on Saturday evening, one group of fans has emerged as the passionate heartbeat of the team’s resurgence: the Galaxy Outlawz.
Established in 2019 in Victoria Block, the dynamic North End supporters’ section at Dignity Health Sports Park, the Outlawz embody the unrelenting spirit of a fanbase that refused to accept mediocrity.
Just over a year and a half ago, Galaxy supporters were boycotting games, voicing their frustrations with the club’s front office and ownership over a perceived indifference to the team’s struggles.
At the end of a season that saw LA Galaxy languish second from bottom in the Western Conference and 26th out of 29 teams overall, a change felt imperative. Fans took action, protesting and boycotting, forcing the club to confront the reality of its decline.
Now, 10 years since their last MLS Cup triumph, the Galaxy have turned their fortunes around, driven in part by the unrelenting dedication of their supporters.
For the Galaxy Outlawz, this final represents not just a chance to reclaim glory, but a victory for the fans who never gave up.
One man with a deep-rooted love for the Galaxy, who has felt the pain of the last decade is Ziggy, Lead Capo of the Outlawz.
A fan since 1997, when the team played at the Rose Bowl, and through the glory days of the Beckham era, Alex now leads the Outlawz in uniting a diverse community of supporters.
“The Outlawz have become more than friends—we’re a family,” he says. Supporter groups like the Outlawz are pivotal in shaping soccer culture in the United States, where the sport continues to grow.
This season has undoubtedly provided validation for the Outlawz and the efforts of Galaxy fans to hold the club accountable and reignite its competitive fire.
“After 10 years and a supporters’ boycott, we are finally competing for the cup. We’ve endured so much hardship and disappointment, and we are ecstatic to be back in a final,” he shares.
As the Galaxy aim to reassert themselves as the league’s marquee franchise and take on the Red Bulls in front of a packed Dignity Health Sports Park, the energy and belief of the Outlawz will without question be central to the club’s quest for a historic victory.
For these fans, Saturday’s game is about more than a trophy—it’s about reclaiming the pride and prestige of the LA Galaxy name.
Ahead of the club’s biggest game in a decade, The Atlantic Dispatch sat down with Ziggy to discuss their historic clash against the New York Red Bulls, and to learn more about the Galaxy Outlawz.
IT’S SOMETHING I LOVE DOING FOR THE CLUB I ADORE
Galaxy Outlawz was officially established in Victoria Block in 2019. The group was originally started by the Martinez brothers to support the Galaxy.
With the help of friends, the group slowly began gaining traction and was recognised by the club as an official supporters’ group for the 2019 season.
I joined the group in 2020, but the pandemic shut everything down. I had to wait until the 2021 season to get my opportunity to lead our section.
Leading has always been something I’ve wanted to do. I am grateful that the leadership entrusted me with the opportunity. It’s something I love doing for the club I adore.
THE OUTLAWZ HOLD A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
My love for the Galaxy started at a very young age. I first attended a Galaxy game in 1997 when they were playing at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
I was part of a young soccer league, AYSO, which took us all to a match. Over time, other interests got in the way, but the arrival of David Beckham reignited my passion. From that point on, my love for the Galaxy has only grown.
The Outlawz hold a very special place in my heart. The people I have met through the group have become more than friends; we’ve become a family.
It has evolved into a true community full of different personalities and backgrounds. From Turkey Day pick-up games to our annual Halloween parties, we tend to do everything together.
My absolute highlight throughout my time with the Outlawz has been seeing how much the group has grown over the years. Our members are the most important part of what we do.
WE ARE THE HEARTBEAT OF THE CLUB
The experience at home and away is pretty much the same: chanting, singing, and supporting the club wherever they go.
This year alone, we’ve travelled to Houston, Portland, Vancouver, and countless other cities. We go wherever the team goes. Most importantly, we are always there to support our boys at home.
Supporter groups are very important here in the U.S. The culture is still evolving across the country. We are the heartbeat of the club.
Although the league (and front office) puts us through a lot of hurdles, we always stay true to the purpose of supporting our club. It’s also encouraging to see all the other groups around the country supporting their teams.
WE BELIEVE IN THIS TEAM
This season has been incredible, to say the least. After 10 years and a supporters’ boycott, we are finally competing for the cup.
We have endured so much hardship and disappointment, and we are ecstatic to be back in a final.
A win would mean everything to us. As you can guess, this has been a very busy week. There’s a lot of preparation to do before the final
We know the Red Bulls will be a challenge, but we believe in this team and are proud of everything they’ve accomplished so far.
ALL OUR THANKS TO THE GALAXY OUTLAWZ.
