IT WAS THERE I FOUND A LOVE FOR THE GAME WORLDWIDE
I was born in the Southern part of the Netherlands and I still live there. My job is working as a graphic designer for PSV Eindhoven. Next to that, I love to capture all sorts of things through my lens as a photographer.
My love for football dates back to my youth when I fell in love with the game due to a sticker collection book at our local supermarket, where you could collect stickers for the entire Eredivisie.
Collecting those stickers made me get into football and after that, I started following the Eredivisie and began to fall in love with my boyhood club PSV Eindhoven. It was from there that I found a love for the game worldwide.
This summer also brought us Euro 2024, and it was a great opportunity to capture the passion of the Dutch fans.
They took to the streets in their thousands and towns were awash with orange as they spread their colour throughout the tournament. It was a wonderful sight to see, and something that I will never forget.
MODERN BUT ALSO VINTAGE
My passion for photography started during my study period, where I had to experiment and learn about the basics of photography next to my graphic design skills.
These basics made me want to buy my own camera and go out and just do things and experiment. A couple of years later I’m enjoying photography more than ever, visiting events, and games, doing model shoots and even having my first-ever expo in a local art centre.
I would describe my photography style as modern but also vintage at the same time, and just artistic and alternative. I would definitely call my style mostly self-taught and self-found.
Portraits of unique people, the culture around football and the raw vibe of street photography are subjects I like to capture the most.
RAW EMOTIONS AND AUTHENTICITY
I recently visited Copenhagen on holiday so I thought; ‘Why not take in a game whilst I’m there anyway?’
The fans were really fanatic, singing the entire game and supporting their team to the win. Capturing the raw emotions and authenticity of those fans resulted in some great pictures
Other than Borussia Dortmund and RC Lens, the Copenhagen fans have to go in 3rd place as the best supporting fans that I’ve witnessed live.
