Other key players from this era include Nicola Amoruso, Ciccio Cozza, and, above all, Andrea Pirlo—one of the greatest midfielders of all time, who began making a name for himself on the shores of the Strait of Messina.

La Reggina 1914, squadra di calcio di Reggio Calabria, è molto più di una semplice realtà sportiva: è un simbolo di passione,tradizione e identità per una città che ha vissuto momenti di gloria, ma anche periodi difficili. Fondata nel 1914, la Reggina ha attraversato oltre un secolo di storia, ma è negli anni più recenti che ha conosciuto le sue vette più alte e le sue sfide più dure.
Negli anni dal 1999 al 2009, la squadra ha vissuto la sua fase di massimo splendore, conquistando la Serie A per ben nove stagioni. In quegli anni, Reggio Calabria ha visto emergere giocatori di livello internazionale che hanno lasciato un segno indelebile nella storia del club.

Un’ingiustizia che ha segnato profondamente la città, ma che ha anche alimentato un senso di rivalsa e di determinazione senza pari.
La Reggina, purtroppo costretta a ripartire dai bassifondi del calcio, non ha mai perso la sua anima e la sua forza. La passione dei suoi tifosi, che non hanno mai abbandonato la squadra anche nei momenti più bui, è l’essenza stessa di questa realtà calcistica.

Recentemente, in occasione dello scontro diretto contro il Siracusa,la squadra ha visto un’incredibile affluenza di sostenitori, accorsi in massa per sostenere gli amaranto in un campionato che, pur essendo lontano dalle luci dei grandi palcoscenici, ha un significato profondo per i cuori di chi vive Reggio Calabria.
La cultura popolare che avvolge la Reggina è fatta di radici forti, di un’identità che non si piega e non si spezza. L’attaccamento alla maglia e il senso di appartenenza sono i motori che spingono i tifosi a riempire lo stadio, a cantare e a sostenere con tutta l’anima una squadra che, pur nelle difficoltà, sogna di tornare ai livelli che le spettano.
