VIN CULT: MADE IN MARSEILLE

Being a Marseille means so many things.  First of all, it means being proud of your club and your city.

I’M ALWAYS TRYING TO RESPECT AND PAY HOMAGE TO MARSEILLE AND OUR GREAT HISTORY

Vin Cult is a vintage sports memorabilia shop located in Marseille, which I opened 3 years ago.  Born and raised in Marseille, football has always been a huge part of my life and childhood.

I wanted to pay tribute to the history of our club and city by trying to build something where everyone can come and see some archives and items related to the legacy of Olympique de Marseille, the greatest French football club.

I HAVE PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER

When we first opened reactions to the store were super positive and people felt really connected to the shop because everyone was able to find something that brought them back to a specific moment of the club.

I had the idea of opening this store for a long time so it means a lot to me.  A lot of people have helped me so it feels like a group project where everyone left their mark.  We are doing this for the culture and the city.  I’m always trying to respect and pay homage to our great history, former players and biggest moments.

I have played football for as long as I can remember.  Growing up and being able to see all these jerseys in magazines and local shops in Marseille, I was always amazed to see adults around me wearing some nice jerseys in the neighbourhood.

OUR STRENGTH IS TO NEVER GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT

I’d say that some of my favourite items we have had in store would be our Marseille collection of game-worn jerseys. I have been collecting every item related to Olympique de Marseille such as jerseys, newspapers, pins, scarves and many others.  But if I had to choose one, it would be 1974 adidas Olympique de Marseille kit with a big “ Michel Axel “ logo on the front and back.

Being a Marseille means so many things.  First of all, it means being proud of your club and your city. You have to understand that football in Marseille means the world to people here. We were born with it and it has something almost mythical around it. It’s not the club that is playing but all of the city and its supporters.

As a Marseille fan, it’s hard to say what my favourite moments have been because every moment here has something special.  You can feel emotions coming out of the city during game day.  One of my favourite parts of Vin Cult is being able to talk with customers and friends about future results.

We always hope for the best even when things look bad.  I would say that hope is always around in Marseille, especially in football.  Our strength is to never give up no matter what. After all, our biggest success has always come thanks to that.
